Nagarhole is home to a good population of leopards and tigers. It is also your best opportunity in the world to spot and photograph the melanistic leopard. The area offers plenty of water which allows for aquatic life such as crocodiles, water birds, otters and others to thrive. During summer when the water level depletes the whole of backwaters transforms into a large grassland. This the abundance of food and water attracts large herds of elephants, gaur and other herbivores. Here, you can catch the boat safari and drift down the backwaters or the land safari for tracking big cats.
